Tonkawa school board members Monday night adopted indoor activity protocol for wrestling and basketball seasons.
The new rules were presented by Superintendent Lori Simpson and adopted unanimously by board members present -- Cara Beth Johnson, Mary Allan and Nancy Appleman.
Midhi basketball is already under way, but varsity basketball and wrestling won’t start until after the football season concludes. The new rules follow:
Tonkawa Public Schools Indoor Activity Protocol
1. Masks or face coverings and temperature screenings are required for all participants, coaches, gate and concession workers, officials, and spectators entering any Tonkawa Public Schools facility.
2. All patrons exercise social distancing procedures and sit in designated seating areas while in TPS facilities
3. Some TPS venues may have limited seating capacity. The visiting schools will be notified 24 hours prior to the event regarding limited seating.
4. All participants, officials, and coaches may remove their masks after approaching the court or playing field.
5. All concession and gate workers will wear a mask and gloves through the shift.
6. To reduce contact as much as possible, coaches and players will refrain from shaking hands.
7. Upon boarding for travel to a competition, all drivers, coach-es, players, managers, and cheerleaders will be screened for a temperature, will sanitize hands, and wear mask throughout the duration of the trip.
8. Locker rooms will only be accessable for pre-game and half time use. We ask players to come dressed for competition.
9. All shared equipment will be sanitized periodically during the competition.
10. We ask all spectators to leave through the designated exit directly following an event.
11. Parents or spectators are not permitted to attend practice sessions in TPS facilities.

-- Approved 2021 meeting dates of Jan. 11, Feb. 8, March 8, April 12, May 10, June 14, July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8, and Dec. 13.
-- Approved expenditures totalling $22,789.32 with $22,011.91 from the general fund, $95.41 from fund 22 and $682 from bond fund 34.
-- Approved Indian policies and procedures.
-- Approved the final general fund operation budget for the 2021 fiscal year of $7,019,879.29. This is an estimated working budget amount.
-- Approved making application for e-rate and impact aid.
