Petsense in Ponca City is lending a helping hand to the local pets of Northern Oklahoma with their summer donation drive. Until July 31st, Petsense has been collecting food, toys, and treats for the local shelters for the past few weeks and have amassed around $500 of goodies so far thanks to community members who have donated. These goodies will go on to benefit the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society, PAW First Rescue, and Save the Kitties. While Petsense is in Ponca City, may people in the smaller surrounding towns still head that way for their pet needs. Some of these rescues are also Ponca City based, but still they serve surrounding towns and have a wide response area. By local communities supporting this donation drive, they are only helping the homeless animals at these rescues that have been picked up all throughout Northern Oklahoma. For the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society, donation drives like these truly help them fill their pet pantry that benefits both the community and their own animals. To repay the kindness that they are given in circumstances like theses and to continue to care for the communities that care for them, the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society also does monthly low-cost spay and neuter clinics at their facility once a month out of the OK Humane’s Statewide Initiative Mobile Spay and Neuter Unit. The next clinics being held will be on July 15 and August 12. The humane society is aware of and understands the financial strain that pet care can place on people in challenging times, which is why they offer this incredible opportunity.
