Pioneer Technology Center and Northern Oklahoma College are partnering in the ABE/HSE – Adult Basic Education/High School Equivalency courses taught at NOC.
The ABE/HSE classes meet in Wilkin Hall on the NOC Tonkawa campus from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
The classes are coordinated by Pioneer Technology Center’s Wendy Terrazas and taught by Lori Evans.
“Northern is pleased to host this important program to provide additional access for individuals wishing to complete coursework that will enhance their future opportunities in the workforce,” said NOC President Dr. Cheryl Evans. “Pioneer Tech and NOC collaborate in many ways to help students succeed. This just another great example,”
“Pioneer Technology Center is pleased to partner with Northern Oklahoma College to provide an outreach site for our Adult Basic Education/HSE program, which is designed to work with individuals to achieve a high school credential or build academic skills to increase employability,” said Pioneer Tech Superintendent Traci Thorpe. “It is our goal to see these individuals pursue additional educational pathways or enter the workforce with strong academic skills, and this partnership affords the opportunity for more access to these necessary programs.”
This is the second year NOC has hosted the program.
According to Evans, the program is individually paced where students learn the skills to earn a High school equivalency certificate. Students take the final assessments in five fields of study at Pioneer Technology in Ponca City.
Students may enroll in the free courses by calling Pioneer Technology Center at 580.718.4319 or Northern Oklahoma College at 580.628.6220.
