The Northern Oklahoma Humane Society is holding a Foster Orientation Open House on Saturday, November 23 from 11 am to 12 pm at their facility. The people with NOKHS are asking the community to help them make a difference for these animals. There are no obligations to foster if you attend this event, NOKHS just want to have an informative conversation about fostering, its impacts, and how it could affect the pet crisis in Northern Oklahoma. By fostering, community members allow the humane society to increase their capacity and reach more animals in need within the area.At this open house, attendees will have the opportunity to meet NOKHS newest member of the team, Kisha Oakes, the NOKHS Foster Coordinator, and discuss if foster is right for them and even how rewarding it can be. While there, attendees can also speak with experienced foster mentors who will share their stories, wisdom, and foster lessons that they have learned along the way, giving any potential foster families a leg up when it comes to dealing with these situations. Attendees will also be able to see and understand how flexible fostering can be.If you or someone you know has shown interest in fostering or even foster-to-adopting, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about how that is done and the things that come along with it. Head to the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society, located at 900 W Prospect Ave. in Ponca City, to learn more about the foster program and what you can do for the homeless animals in the community.
