Immunizations offered
On-site immunizations will be offered by the Kay County Health Department on Thursday, July 22 and July 29 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the registration center, Ponca City. The following vaccines will be offered: T dap booster, HPV and MCV.
For those interested, COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines will also be available for students ages 12 and up. A legal guardian must be present.
Vacation Bible School July 13-17
“Glow for God” is the theme for Vacation Bible school July 13-17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for K-5th grade at the Tonkawa christian Life Church, 115 West Grand. Register online at TONKAWACLC.COM/VBS-GLOW-FOR-GOD.
Chamber to give away cooler
The Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce will give away a Yeti Tundra Cooler ($300 value) on the Fourth of July. Proceeds from the raffle will go to help pay for fireworks. One ticket is $5, two tickets are $9 and five tickets are $20. Tickets can be purchased at the chamber office Monday through thursday, 9-4 and Friday, 9-noon.
Chamber takes fireworks donations
The Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce are taking donations for the 4th of July fireworks display. There are donation cans at the following locations – First National Bank, Gateway First Bank, Oxford Tire, Venture Foods, Hammerheads, Jiffy Trip, Simple Simon’s, Tonkawa Medical Dispensary, Quiddy’s, Mary’s Grill and Red Pipe LLC. You can drop off donation at the Chamber Office Monday-Thursday 9-4 or Friday 9-12. Help make this the Best Fireworks Display ever!

Storm siren testing Monday
Every Monday at 1 p.m. the Tonkawa storm sirens will be tested.
Get your Tonkawa Buc face masks!
A new shipment of Tonkawa Buccaneer face masks are available at the Central Office at the Tonkawa Mid-Hi/High school site. Masks may be purchased for $10 each Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Go Bucs!!
IOOF Cemetery needs donations
The IOOF Cemetery is in need of donations to continue operation of the cemetery, Garry Davis announced this week. Brent Bailey is caretaker. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 121 with checks made to the Tonkawa Cemetery for upkeep.
Davis said money is short because of fewer funerals.
Caregivers support group in Tonkawa
The Kay County Caregivers support group meets from 4-6 p.m. the first Monday of every month at 118 S. Seventh, Tonkawa, across the street from the Tonkawa city offices.
