Tonkawa school board members Tuesday noon approved the guaranteed maximum price on the Tonkawa Elementary School classroom addition at $868,296.95.
The board met in special session for 90 minutes Tuesday, June 30.
The bond issue was $825,000 but Superintendent Lori Simpson said the difference would be made up from the building fund levy.
The resignation of Jessi Neal as grade school counselor was accepted with regret. In her letter, she said, “After careful consideration, I have made the decision to resign in order to better accommodate my parent’s health care needs by living closer to them. Working for Tonkawa Public Schools has been an amazing experience and has allowed me to learn and grow as a school counselor. I am grateful for the wonderful people that I have met and the opportunities that I have been presented with throughout my year at Tonkawa Public Schools.”
Grade School Principal Kelly Martin recommended Julia Bonewell of Blackwell as the new counselor. Bonewell’s hiring was approved unanimously by the board.
