The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) of Kay County, Oklahoma, met in regular session at 9:00 o’clock a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020, the meeting was posted for public information on March 13, 2020, at 8:50 a.m. on the Courthouse front door, Commissioners Court, and basement handicapped entrance of the Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk, Oklahoma.
Chairman John Wilson called the meeting to order. Those present were as follows: Jason Shanks, Member; Jack Godberson, Member; Brian Hermanson, District Attorney (DA); Billie Chrz, Assistant District Attorney (ADA); Judge Turner; Christy Kennedy, Kay County Treasurer; Susan Keen, Kay County Assessor ; Steve Kelley, Kay County Sheriff; Sean Grigsba, Kay County Undersheriff; Brenda Medlock, OSU Extension Director; Dennis Bonewell, Kay County Emergency Management Director; Donna Parker, Oklahoma Court Services; Skyler Matthews, Kaw Nation; John Andrew, Assistant City Attorney for Ponca City; Travis Harris, Kildare Fire Department; Claude Williams, Taxpayers for Transparency; Tammy Reese, Secretary/Kay County Clerk. Chairman John Wilson led the Flag Salute.
Motion was made by Godberson and seconded by Wilson approving regular meeting minutes of March 9, 2020 and special meeting inutes of March 3, 2020. Motion carried: Godberson, aye; Wilson, aye; Shanks, aye.
Report given by Donna Parker, Oklahoma Court Services, presenting the number of community service hour’s defendants are working and the projects they are involved in: Ms. Parker gave the February 2020 reports starting with new community service clients-16, regular community service clients for the month69, sanction community service hours completed-357, total hours completed-1474.7 and community service offender completions-10. Completed events for the month where clients cleaned, trimmed trees, cleaned at lake area and cared for animals at New Life Trails, Friendship Feast, Blackwell Animal Control, Lake Ponca, Ponca City Disc Golf, and My Favorite Things. Upcoming events will be held at Habitat Restore, Ponca City Humane Society, Camp McFadden, Ponca City Disc Golf, My Favorite Things and Friendship Feast.
Motion was made by Godberson and seconded by Shanks approving AirMedCare Network Membership for Payroll Deduct Only for Kay County Employees with the automatic renewal struck from the document.
DA Hermanson approved as to form suggesting to strike language regarding automatic renewal. Motion carried: Godberson, aye; Wilson, aye; Shanks, aye.
