(Published in the Tonkawa News, Tonkawa, Oklahoma, Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022)Kay County Commission Monday, August 1, 2022 Newkirk, OklahomaThe Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) of Kay County, Oklahoma, met in regular session at 9:00 o’clock a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, the meeting was posted for public information on July 28, 2022, at 8:50 a.m. at the Commissioners Room, west entrance of the Kay County Administration Building in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and on the Kay County Website.Chairman John Wilson called the meeting to order: Commissioners: Shane Jones, Member, present; Jason Shanks, Member, present. Other’s present were as follows: Billie Chrz, Kay County First Assistant District Attorney (ADA); Christy Kennedy, Kay County Treasurer; Steve Kelley, Kay County Sheriff; Dennis Bonewell, Emergency Management Director; Skyler Mathews, Kaw Nation; Claude Williams, Taxpayers for Transparency; Tammy Reese, Secretary/ Kay County Clerk. Chairman John Wilson led the flag salute.Motion was made by Shanks and seconded by Wilson approving the regular meeting minutes of July 25, 2022. Motion carried: Jones, aye; Wilson, aye; Shanks, aye.Motion was made by Shanks and seconded by Jones approving Contract by and between the Kay County Health Department and Peter Hightower to provide Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) and related services to tuberculosis patients. DA Hermanson approved as to form. Clerk Reese noted the significant increase in dues; Shanks said he would contact NODA regarding the increase. Motion carried: Jones, aye; Wilson, aye; Shanks, aye.Motion was made by Shanks and seconded by Jones approving Statewide Contract #1006H for WatchGuard Firebox T80 firewall with necessary software package and rack-mounting solutions, etc., County Clerk. Clerk Reese said the total amount for this security measure is $14,940.00, she said it would be paid out of Clerk Preservation account.
