Kyler Inman, Newkirk high school, has been chosen for Academic All-State by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.
He is the son of Leslie Inman of Newkirk and Tyson Inman of Elgin and the grandson of Calvin and Cristy Crumrine of Tonkawa, Tom and Elizabeth Inman of Skiatook and Mary and Rick Allan of Tonkawa.
To be eligible students must have a composite ACT score of at least 30, combined SAT Evidence-based reading and writing and math score of at least 1370, National Merit scholarship program semi-finalist, National Achievement Scholarship program semi-finalist.
Students are also evaluated on the basis of their leadership abilities, motivation, academic achievement and character as maximized within each student’s learning environment.
Inman was active in three of Newkirk’s most labor and time-consuming organizations, the Technology student association; marching band, where he plays trumpet and was named most valuable band player; and the academic team. He was recognized for his academics and leadership in 2018, when he was selected by Northern Oklahoma College as one of the top academic student leaders during the Academic Regionals competition. inman was jointly enrolled at Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City, where he is one of the top engineering students. He also works part-time at a Newkirk grocery store. He plans to continue studies at Northern Oklahoma College in pre-engineering.
