Principals Kyle Simpson and Kelly Martin were rehired at the Friday, Feb. 12, meeting of the Tonkawa Board of Education.
Simpson was hired for his 20th term as high school principal. Martin was rehired as grade school principal for her eighth year.
Both were rehired on the recommendations of Superintendent Lori Simpson, who praised their “stability” on the job.
Board members present for the meeting included Cara Beth Johnson, Casey McAninch, Nancy Appleman and Mary Allan. Jerry Hook was absent for the noon meeting.
In other action, the board:
-- Approved paying warrants totalling $284,978.17 with $120,332.19 from the general fund, $65,297.87 from the building fund, $190 from the lunch fund and $99,158.11 from the bond fund.
-- Approved the district participation in the summer food program.
-- Approved extending the expiration date of the Family First Coronavirus Relief Act from Dec. 31, 2020 to March 31, 2021.
-- Approved the 2021-2022 district school calendar. The first day of school will be aug. 12 and the last day of school will be May 18.
