The Kay County Treasurer’s Office has historical Tax Roll books available to the public. Rhonda Stephens, first deputy, holds one. “We simply can no longer house these records. We have offered them to every library, historical society and museum in the county that we are aware of and they have taken several of them. We have even contacted the Oklahoma Historical Society. A lot of them have the same problem we do, no room.” said Christy Kennedy, Kay County Treasurer. If you have property in the county, have a long history with Kay County or just love the look of these books for display purposes, they are being offered first come first serve. You will need to bring your own muscle to carry the books upstairs and load them. The books will be available during regular business hours 8am-noon and 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
