Tonkawa senior track stars Holly Hembree and Chandler Tarrant were both named State All-Stars earlier this week.Hembree, daughter of Brian and Krista Hembree finished with a fifth place spot in the pole vault this year, after she was state champion in 2011 and a member of the 2011 record holding mile relay that same year.“Holly has been a consistent force on our team throughout her career at Tonkawa,” Coach Kurt Kirtley said.Tarrant was a leader on the 400 and 800 meter championship relay teams this year, as well as a driving force on the team for the last several years.“Chandler had a great start on the relay this year,” Kirtley said. ‘It isn’t very often that after the first leg a team has such a lead that you just felt the win heading your way. I’ve never seen a relay like that.”Chandler Tarrant is the daughter of Mark and Cecilia Tarrant and Rob and Christy Ronald. “Chandler has been one of the catalysts helping to build such a great three year run on the relay teams,” Kirtley added. “Both these athletes deserve a lot of credit as leaders and as students on this team and in the state.”
