The end of October is filled with events for the people of the Tonkawa Community. The holiday of Halloween is packed with fun and entertainment in the town.To kick off the night, the Halloween Festival will begin in downtown Tonkawa at 4 pm. Candy for children in costumes will be handed out on Grand Ave. Following the festival at 5 pm, a costume contest will be held at Heart in the Park. Three age groups will be included in the costume contest, ranging from 0 to 3 years of age, 4 to 7, and 8 to 12, and 10 categories to be judged. Each age group has a prize of $50 for the winners.Also at 5 pm, the Maverick Wrestling Monster Mash Showdown will be held. Going up against Trinidad State, this Inaugural Season Monster Mash Showdown will be held in the Foster-Piper Fieldhouse. Both mens and womens’ games will be beginning of the new wrestling teams at Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa. This has been absent at NOC since 1983, but has been revitalized this year.At 5:30 pm through 7 pm. The Trick or Treat Fair will be held in the NOC Tonkawa Circle where candy, games, and fun will be had. The Hub Entertainment will be holding their Trick or Treating from 6-8 pm.The Northern Oklahoma Division of Fine Arts will be holding their annual Halloween Spooktacular Cabaret on October 30 and 31. On both nights, the performances will begin at 7:30 pm in the Kinzer Performing Arts Center. This will be another collaboration of musical theatre, concert band, and jazz band. The cabaret will be directed by NOC Fine Arts Division Chair, Dr. Edward Dixon, and Fine Arts Instructor, Chad Anderson. Admission is $5, payable at the door. For those with children who trick or treat on Halloween, the Spooktacular Cabaret offers a ‘trick-or-treat’ night on Wednesday, where each child receives a goody bag.With all of these events, the community is sure to have a blast this Halloween in Tonkawa.
