Members of the Tonkawa Board of Education accepted one resignation at the March 22 meeting of the board.Joniece LeValley resigned from her position at the Tonkawa Elementary School. Her letter read as follows: “Thank you for the opportunity to work at Tonkawa Elementary School. During my interview, the administration let me know a third grade position was added because of the larger class size. It was also reported that the position may be removed with the smaller class size for the 2023-24 school year. Unfortunately, with the restructuring of the special needs department and the necessity for a special needs teacher to return to the classroom, there’s not a position available for me at this time. Tonkawa Elementary School has the finest faculty and staff. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I will certainly miss the students most of all. I hereby resign this position at the end of this school year, and if another comes available, I hope you’ll keep me in mind. Blessings to you all! I wish you well!”Board members accepted the resignation. In other action, board members Casey McAninch, Nancy Appleman, Brian Bowling and Tyler Langston (Jerry Hook was absent): -- Approved expenditures totalling $105,493.22 with $100,430.72 from the general fund and $5,062.50 from the sinking fund.
