Evelyn Coyle, chair of the Tonkawa area Girls State program, received the following message from Jenifer Shaw, Oklahoma Girls State chair:
“The American Legion Auxiliary Oklahoma Girls State Committee has worked with the University of Oklahoma and determined that due to the COVID-19 crisis the Oklahoma Girls State 2020 will be cancelled. This decision has been made to protect all of our attendees and staff. The decision was not made lightly and it will only be the second time in our history that we have cancelled our program. We are saddened that we cannot host the event this year.”
