On Sunday, Nov. 21st from 1-4 p.m. artist Gene Dougherty will be having his “Hidden Treasures” art show at the Santa Fe Depot in Tonkawa. The show will include various original oil and water color paintings. He will also feature original artwork that depicts homes, churches and scenery from Kay County. Prints and Christmas cards will be available and show attendees will get a chance to purchase unearthed studio pieces from years past.The McCarter Museum is also having an open house to show off new displays and items donated to the museum. Dougherty has generously donated a 24x36 original oil painting entitled “Turkey Tales” to the Historical Society to help raise money for a new roof. Tickets for the painting raffle are available at both Tonkawa banks or by calling 580-761-0493 & 580-763-7311.Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 tickets for $20.00. and will also be available for purchase at the art show. Drawing will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the conclusion of the art show and you do not need to be present to win. The painting will be on display at Gateway First Bank on Nov. 8-12th and at First National Bank on Nov. 15-19th.
