Candidates interested in filing for office in Braman, Kaw City, Newkirk and Tonkawa municipalities will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday February 6, 2023.Carol Leaming, Secretary of the Kay County Election Board, said Declaration of Candidacy forms must be completed and submitted to the County Election Board no later than 5:00 p.m. Wednesday February 8, 2023 when the filing period ends. Leaming reminds voters that Contest of Candidacy must be filed no later than February 10, 2023 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed.Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices: BramanTrustee Seat #1 Kaw CityMayor Trustee Seat #3 Trustee Seat #4NewkirkCommissioner#1 TonkawaCouncil Member Ward #3 Council Member Ward #4 Council Member At Large In Tonkawa, incumbents include councilman at-large Stacy Burns, ward three councilman Jack Evans and ward four councilman Rick Allan. who has said he will seek re-election.
