The week of the Kay County Free Fair officially begun! The fair board has prepared a number of exciting events throughout the week and WEEE Entertainment has brought their carnival to the fairgrounds. There are food trucks galore and they are sure to have the fair food that you have been craving for the past year.On Monday, Sept. 9, entries began to be taken for Domestic Science and Domestic Arts, School Exhibits, and Plants, Flowers and Agriculture/4H in the Expo Center. These entries will be taken, then later on judged to see who in the surrounding communities deserves their spot on the leaderboard for their category at the Kay County Free Fair.Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Domestic Science and Domestic Arts, School Exhibits, and Flowers, Plants and Agriculture/4-H entries in the Expo Center continued to be taken. Judging began for the OHCE exhibits. The check in for the Poultry and Rabbits, and Horse Show entries was held around the fairgrounds. Tuesday being opening night, the Blackwell High School Band came to perform for the opening ceremonies.On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the judging begins for the Crops, Education, 4-H and FFA, Domestic Science, Fine and Domestic Arts, Horticulture, and Plants and Flowers continues. The livestock judging for chickens and rabbits will be in the Livestock Pavilion at 9 am and 5 pm respectively. The cattle weigh in will be held from 4 to 6 pm before the cattle show set for 6:30 pm in the Whitman Arena. The renowned Northern Oklahoma College Roustabouts are set to perform on stage at the south end of the fairgrounds.Thursday, Sept. 12, at noon, the Friends of 1893 Land Run, formerly known as the Old Settlers Reunion, covered dish luncheon will be held in the Kay Room at Kay Electric and at 1 pm, the Friends of 1893 Land Run Program will begin. Later, at 6 pm, the Tractor Driving Contest will be East of the Horse Arena. From 10 am to 12 pm sheep and goat weigh-in will be held at the Livestock Pavilion. The sheep show will start at 5:30 pm and the Goat Show is set to begin 10 minutes after the sheep show ends in the Livestock Pavilion. Starting at 6 pm, the Mutton Bustin’ will begin in the Verne Byler Horse Arena, followed by the 6:30 pm Farm Hand Competition. The local favorite, Five Year Gap band will perform from 7 to ...
