Dr. Gerald O’Mealey is pleased to announce his new associate Dr. Rachel Shuey to the Tonkawa Veterinary Clinic, as of May 18th, 2021. And he is excited to be working with her.Dr. Shuey graduated from Westmoore High School in Moore, Oklahoma, in 2013.She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of Missouri in 2016 and then completed her Masters of Public Health in 2020. In May 2021, she graduated from the University of Missouri with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, and began working at the clinic.At Mizzou, she was part of the Veterinary Business Management Association, Swine Club, Bovine Club, Small Ruminant and Camelid Club, and Student Chapter of American Veterinary Medical Association.“I am pleased to have Dr. Shuey join our team at the Tonkawa Veterinary Clinic,” Dr. O’Mealey said. “She is a very knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate doctor and plans to serve Tonkawa and the surrounding area for years to come. She is a versatile veterinarian that treats both small and large animals, and has shown great practice skills.”During vet school, Dr. Shuey spent time at several practices where she was involved with small animal diagnosis, treatment, skin/ear cytology, dentistry, emergency critical care, various general and specialty surgeries, radiology, and ultrasound.She was very involved in large animals performing breeding soundness exams on bulls, pregnancy checks on cows both manually and with ultrasound, caesarian sections, and artificial insemination along with the diagnosis and treatment of calves. She has experience with llamas, alpacas, goats and pigs, including diagnosis, treatments, caesarian sections, dewclaw removals, prolapses and hernia repairs. She also has experience with horses and sheep.She is FEMA Certified in large and small animal disaster relief, a member of the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corp and RedRover Animal Disaster Relief, the U.S. Animal Health Organization, Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Swine Veterinarians ...
