Tonkawa’s mayor and council have voted to purchase a new
Fire/EMS command vehicle.
The action was taken at the June 18 meeting of the mayor and council.
Fire Chief Justin Kienzle has tried to replace the command vehicle for several years. He was recently awarded $20,000 from the
Morgan Foundation for the purchase of a vehicle. He has specified an equipped vehicle for $38,000. He has enough funds available in his ambulance budget to make up the difference.
In other action, Mayor Ken Smith, Vice Mayor Glenn Cope and
Councilmen Jack Evans, Scott Klufa and Stacy Burns:
-- Approved a new Tonkawa Development authority contract with the city for $23,300.
-- Approved a new tonkawa Recreation contract for $10,000.
-- Approved a new Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce contract for $10,000.
-- Tabled action on an agreeement with Alliance Business service for the AT&T telephone for voice, fax and internet.
-- Met in executive session to discuss negotiations concerning the FOP and IAFF, but took no action.
-- Approved the emergency purchase of $9,000 for three transformers that were hit by lightning during the storms.
-- Authorized the trust manager to spend up to $30,000 for the cleaning (pigging) of 10,900 feet of forced main.
