Ponca Playhouse will open its 66th Season with the thriller Misery, by William Goldman based on the popular Stephen King novel. Directed by Playhouse veteran Ryan Brown, this is sure to be a wonderful opener for the season.Misery is a drama that follows the story of successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued by his “number one fan” Annie Wilkes, becoming a captive in her home. Twists and turns in his captivity take the audience on dark turns. You won’t want to miss the stellar cast of Jared McGuire as Paul Sheldon, Sam Stuart as Annie Wilkes, and Larry King as Buster, as they take the stage and bring this production to life.Producer for the show is Meghann Borum, and Stage Manager is Blake Brown.Director Ryan Brown says, “From beginning to end of this entire process everyone has been so excited about this show. The designers, the actors, the technicians, everyone has wanted to be part of this world in some way or another. It’s what I love most about theater, and I was nervous that a three-person thriller might not get that same kind of support. But I was very wrong.”Production dates for Misery are September 13th-15th and 20th-22nd, with Friday and Saturday show times beginning at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm.Tickets for this production go on sale beginning Monday, September 2nd and may be purchased on the Ponca Playhouse ticket website, Poncaplayhouse.ludus.com, emailing the box officer at PPHBoxOffice@gmail.com, by calling the box office at 580-765-5360 (you can leave a message with the tickets you desire, or your call will be returned), or by visiting the box office at 301 South 1st Street one hour prior to show times.Content Warning: This play contains adult language and simulated violence and may not be suitable for audience members under age 13.
