Tonkawa News office re-opens Monday
The Tonkawa News office will re-open Monday, May 4, as mandated by the Governor’s new executive order. Office hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The office has been closed the past few weeks to foot traffic.
School driver’s ed explained
Driver’s Ed Students enrolled in a school program must complete 30 hours’ instruction and 6 hours’ driving time with the instructor. To assist those who weren’t able to complete the six hours, OSDE will allow the parent or guardian of a student whose course was interrupted to complete the six required hours of driving time. The parent or guardian must attest to completion of the drive time on a Certificate of Completion. OSDE is working on an updated Certificate that will be issued in the coming days, Superintendent Lori Simpson announced this week.
City library is opening Monday
The Tonkawa Public Library will be doing a soft opening on Monday, May 4. The library will be going back to normal business hours, Monday & Tuesday 10-6, Wednesday-Friday 9-5, and Saturday 10-1. Only the front door will be unlocked and available for use,. The library will only be allowing 8 people in at a time (because 2 staff members will be here as well). Open for quick check-outs only (face masks are encouraged), no computer usage or loitering. All programs have been canceled, this includes Toddler Time and the 2020 Summer Reading Program.
Methodists accepting furniture only
Donations for the First United Methodist Church Thrift Sale in Tonkawa are no longer being accepted at this time, with the exception of FURNITURE. If you have any furniture items that you would like to drop off, please call the church office at 580-628-2309, or Meredith Williamson 580-716-2141. The date for the Thrift Sale is still unknown, but will be advertised as soon as times allow.
