Brian Bowling was sworn in as the new Tonkawa Board of Education member Monday night.
He replaces Mary Allan, who he defeated in last week’s election.
As a result, the board was re-organized with Casey McAninch the new president, Cara Beth Johnson vice president and Nancy Appleman was re-elected clerk. Jerry Hook was absent. In other action, board members:
-- Approved expenditures totalling $287,159.04 with $290,263.79 from the general fund minus $22,875; $19,230.75 from the building fund and $539.50 from the lunch fund.
-- Adopted a resolution setting noon June 3 as a special meeting to sell $550,000 general obligation building bonds for the Event Center.
-- Approved a change orderfor the addition at Tonkawas Elermentary school, mainly a bid to Falco for the new fire alarm system at a cost of $49,492. Total cost of the project now stands at $972,928.27.
-- Approved a new salary schedule that provides for up to 27 years of service instead of the 25. Superintendent Lori Simpson said she hopes the board will increase the maximum by two years until it gets to 35. The new schedule affects only 12 teachers who will get an additional $10,200 next year or about $850 annually each.
-- -- Approved a support salary schedule for the 2021-22 school year providing for a 15 cents per hour increase.
-- Approved a contract between Tonkawa Public Schools and Keystone Food Service for the 21-22 school year at a cost of $3.62 for lunch, $1.81 for breakfast and $3.94 for adults.
-- Approved activating activity accounts for midhi cheer and midhi stuco.
-- Approved contracted services between the district and Evaluation Works LLS for the 21-22 year.
-- Approved software service agreement between Municipal Acounting Systems, Inc. and the district for the 21-22 year.
-- Approved an agreement between OKTLE (teacher evaluation system) and the district for the 21-22 year.
-- Approved the personnel to serve on the professional development committee for 21-22. They include Staci Jacques, chair; Kelly Martin, Kyle Simpson, Kelle Klufa, Christine Jernigan, Sha-Clair Garcia, Kelsey Smith and Francis Wecker.
