The Billings Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the Billings Wheat Country Festival will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 in downtown Billings. The annual event was cancelled last year due to Covid-19 concerns. The Wheat Festival Committee met on Wednesday, July 14 to make plans for the 2021 Festival. Those attending were Lewain and Aimie Learned, Eileen Learned, Tracy and Michelle Carter, Derek and Rachel Silvey, Kevin, Amber and Mi’Angel West, and Candy Oller.
Following is a list of events and items discussed and volunteers:
Theme: Frontline Heroes.
T-Shirts: Rachel Silvey volunteered to create a design for T-Shirts. Aimie Learned will be in charge of T-Shirt orders and selling.
Sponsorships: Linda Stoll, Derek and Rachel Silvey, and Candy Oller.
Social Media – Rachel Silvey.
Pancake Breakfast – Tracy Carter will contact the Billings FFA Advisor to see if they would like to host the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser. The Tonkawa Masons have volunteered to help with the fundraiser.
Information Booth: Candy Oller and Aimie Learned.
Hay Bale Contest: Derek and Rachel Silvey.
Kute Kid Review: Altair Helber Vasquez.
Pie and Cake Auction – Marie Holba (tentative).
TV setup showing OU vs. Texas Game: Tracy and Michelle Carter.
Beer Garden: Rachel and Derek Silvey/TBD.
Stage: Craig Wright; Stage Decorations and Sponsorship signs – Altair Helber Vasquez and Rachel Silvey.
Entertainment: Michelle and Tracy Carter will provide sound equipment and schedule entertainment from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Vendor Booths: Janet and Josie Baker and family will send out applications, collect booth fees, assign vendor booth spaces in community building and outside and take care of sales tax permits.
Food Trucks: The West Family will provide a food wagon selling Indian Tacos, Drinks, Funnel Cakes. Candy Oller will solicit one or two more food trucks offering a variety of food choices.
Parade of antique tractors, cars, equipment and more: - Craig Wright and Lewain Learned will solicit participants and organize the event. Lewain will order plaques commemorating the event to give to the first 50 participants requesting one.
School Participation: Tracy Carter will confirm use of school facilities with school officials and check with the Vo.-Ag teacher about possibly sponsoring a petting zoo. Mi’Angel West, senior student at Billings High School, will check with school organizations and classes concerning their participation with the event and help with a Town Clean Up Day prior to the Festival.
Games: Carnival games and Horseshoe Tournament – The West Family; Corn Hole Tournament – Derek and Rachel Silvey.
Bounce House – Candy Oller.
