Tonkawa’s Police Department communications will be upgraded as a result of a $1786 grant approval by the Oklahoma Crime Commission, according to Ron Worley, NODA Criminal Justice Planning Specialist.The grant matched by Tonkawa with $597 will be used to purchase and install a mobile radio and two handi-talkies for the Police Department.The application was recommended by the Northern Oklahoma Development Association Board of Directors and approved by the Oklahoma Crime Commission using funds from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, Worley stated.Russell Glasgow Tops Football Contest PickersRussell Glasgow, Clinton, topped all gridiron pickers last week in missing but one game to take the first prize money of $7.50 in the weekly Football Contest. Glasgow picked Iowa State over Missouri in that close game that came out 6-5 in favor of the Tigers.In second place, with two missed was Ricky Storm, 1809 East North avenue. He was the second place money of $5.00 cash for his efforts.He barely edged Beverly Edwards, RR 2, who also missed two games but did not come as close on the tie-breaker game. She wins the third prize of $2.50 cash.A large number of entrants missed three games including Iowa State-Missouri, California-Stanford and Baylor-Texas Tech contests.The last regular contest of the season is in this issue.
