Tonkawa Tribe is hosting their 49th annual powwow in honor of the 139th anniversary of the arrival of the Tonkawa at Fort Oakland. This year has been named Year of the Warrior. The Tonkawa Tribe’s Powwow will be held from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 25.The tribe uses this celebration to remember the past and look towards the future to see all it took for their ancestors to get to where they are and how they can continue traditions like these. The powwow is an annual tradition that is held in the last week of June to represent a time in their history that will never be forgotten and features activities that are important to the Tonkawa Tribe. At the powwow you will see tribal dances, princess crowning, contests, crafts, artwork, and tournaments that are important to the tribe.Head Staff will include: Host Drum- Ft.
