Two teachers retired and another resigned effective at the end of the current school year at Monday night’s meeting of the Tonkawa Board of Education.
Loretta Ross, high school librarian, and Jill Fath, elementary reading specialist, both submitted their letters of official retirement.
Grade School Counselor Jayme Evans resigned to accept a similar position at Ponca City high school. She had been at Tonkawa five years.
Ross, a 31-year teaching veteran, is retiring. Fath has been granted a teacher retirement disability due to rheumatoid arthritis.
All three resignations were received by board members Kara Beth Johnson, Casey McAninch, Jerry Hook, Mary Allan and Nancy Appleman with regret.
Hook, who ran for a new five year term on the board, was sworn in Monday night to a new term. Officers of the board were reelected with Johnson as president, McAninch as vice president and Appleman as secretary-treasurer/clerk.
In other action, the board:
-- Approved bills totalling $585,669.65 with $62,099.65 from the general fund, $10,000 from the building fund and $513,570 from the sinking fund to pay for bonds.
-- Approved adjunct teacher employment of Gage Martin and Kale Dice.
-- Approved declaration of surplus property including several band instruments, a 1993 Chevy dually and a 2004 Thomas bus.
-- Approved personnel to serve on the Professional Development Committee. They include Kelly Martin, Kyle Simpson, Jayme Evans, Monica Grein, ShaClair Garcia, Nicole Jones, Stony Fath and Lindsey Bowling.
