Tonkawa Public School patrons will be asked to approve a $12,925,000 bond issue for a new cafeteria to serve both the midhi/high school and elementary school.The election will be Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and at the usual locations.The bond issue includes the following expenses:-- $11,812,157 for construction, equipment and furnishings.-- $778,378 for construction, furnish. equp and/or acquire paving and other related improvements, as needed.-- $333,465 to construct, furnish, equip and/or acquire coverred walkway canopies.Total Bond issue: $12,925,000.Superintendent Lori Simpson explained details of the bond issue:Centrally located cafeteria constructed between the event center and the elementary school. The 16,898 sq.ft. structure has the capacity to serve approximately 400 students at a time. The cafeteria will have a retractable wall dividing the elementary and secondary lunch areas. A covered walkway will be built from the cafeteria to the elementary school. The cost of the bond will be $12,952.00. The term of the bond is 16 years. There will be NO TAX INCREASE if the bond is approved.
