Wheeler Dealers Camping Club members gathered for a February lunch at Montana Mike’s in Bartlesville and discussed plans for the 2022 campouts. Two new couples joined the group including Dave and Anne McCarthy of Tulsa and Ed Hadley and Patti Denton of Inola.Most campouts are held in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas or Missouri with two or more couples planning the location and campout activities which often include visiting area attractions, eating at a local restaurant, games and pot luck meals.Wheeler Dealers monthly campouts are held weekends from March to November with only lunch or breakfast gathering in February and August and a special Christmas Party in December. Members can make their own reservations at many of the Corps lakes through recreation.gov, the Corps of Engineers reservation service, or travelok.com for Oklahoma State Parks. Discussion was held with the popularity of campers perhaps the group should consider planning a year or more in advance if possible.First campout of the year will be in March at Hulah Lake hosted by Jon and Kathy Tippin. Plans include pot luck meals, games, and possibly a visit to some attractions in Pawhuska.The following campouts scheduled include:April – Sand Hills State Park, Hutchinson, KSMay – Keystone State Park, Keystone Lake, OKJune – Blue Bill Point, Ft. Gibson State Park, OKJuly – Arrowhead State Park, Eufaula Lake, OKAugust – Meet and Eat and Swim Party in Bartlesville, OKSeptember – Natural Falls State Park, Colcord, OKOctober – Grand Lake, Grove, OKNovember – Destination to be announcedDecember – Christmas Lunch, McCord Senior Center, Ponca City, OKMembers also approved changes to the club bylaws, and created guidelines for campout hostsCurrent members are from Bartlesville, Edmond, Harrah, Inola, Nowata, Norman, Owasso, Ponca City, Sand Springs, Stillwater, and Tulsa.
