Northern Oklahoma College freshman basketball player Tyrel Morgan received the Donald R. Hays Thursday night.
The scholarship is for the 2020-21 academic year.
The late Ms. Eleanor Hays established this scholarship in 1991 in memory of her husband, Mr. Donald R. Hays, who was a former basketball player at Northern (at the time it was called the University Preparatory School) and the University of Oklahoma.
Morgan will receive this scholarship award for being a male sophomore basketball player who attained the highest-grade point average during his freshman year at Northern Oklahoma College. He is a Business Administration major who graduated from Langston Hughes High School in Georgia.
Presenting the scholarship certificate is Dr. Cheryl Evans, NOC President; Jill Green, NOC Development and Donor Relations; Director, Jeremy Hise, NOC Athletic Director, and NOC head coach Donnie Jackson.
In previous years, NOC asked a Hays family member be present for the scholarship presentation. However, their son, Granvil Hays past away last week. He was a 2004 Distinguished Alumni of NOC.
