Joe F. Yowell, 304 North Barnes, was sworn in as Ward 1 city councilman; B. D. Fairchild was sworn in as a member of the board of trustees of the Blackwell-Tonkawa Airport Authority and four councilmen named members to the City Advisory Committee to make an in depth study on future use of the surplus generating engine, at the meeting of the City Council Tuesday night at City Hall.Yowell was elected unanimously by the council to fill out the vacant Ward 1 position. Neil R. Martin resigned the post at the February 4 meeting in order to avoid any possible conflict of business interests. Yowell will serve until April 1976 to fill out Martin’s unexpired term.Appleman asked members of the council to each name one person to serve on the advisory committee to make a study and recommend what to do with the surplus generating engine. The following were named: Dr. Olin Walcher by Appleman; Leon Carver by Eber K. Heady; Guy Howe by Bruce Robinson and Neil Metcalf by Lyndel Wile. Yowell will have until the next meeting to name his member to the committee.When all have been named, then the committee will select one person to make a membership of six.NOC Wrestling Team Is Rated 8th In Nation Rated eighth in the nation, Northern Oklahoma College’s top-ranked wrestling team is presently participating in wrestling regionals at Colby, Kan.Northern, 11-0, is rated behind first place North Idaho College and second place to Joliet Junior College of Joliet, Illinois.The top-ranked Maverick wrestling team, “8th in the nation” is hoping to finish out their season with even higher national ratings.John Unruh Wins Pole Vault First At Myriad Meet Tonkawa High school senior John Unruh won first place in his division in pole vaulting last Thursday at the 1975 Coaches Indoor Federation Games at the Myriad in Oklahoma City.Unruh was one of three vaulters who cleared 12 feet but he was awarded first place on the basis of fewest misses. There were two classes in the vaulting competition and 27 boys participated in Unruh’s group.He had one day of practice before he went to the city for the meet.
