Join in on the fun and submit that favorite pie everyone is always asking you to make or one that has become a family tradition in your household. We all have that special recipe and some have new favorite recipes. There will be prizes for first, second and third place winners in each category and the overall winner will receive a beautiful engraved pewter platter.
During the final judging, everyone is invited to sample the pies and Kay Lynn and Russ Pendleton and their daughter, Lora Haub, will be on hand again this year serving up Kay Lynn’s homemade ice cream.
The 2012 Overall Pie Grand Prize winner went to Ariel Moorhead for her wonderful Apple Pie that also took 1st place in her category - Fruit Pies and Berry Pies. She told us she entered in memory of her grandmother Irene Suckley who had entered an apple pie in the Herb Festival’s first Pie Contest in 2010.
There was not a doubt in anyone’s mind that Ariel did her grandmother proud - wonderful flaky crust and super apple flavor - it was a true winner.
