Oooh, now here's a decadent little number - 'Symphony' Brownies. Carol Bouldin was telling me about these wonderful brownies she 's made over the years. She didn't have a recipe per se but said to use one family size box brownie mix - add pecans or not - prepare according to package directions and spread half in the bottom of a pan - layer with Symphony candy bars and cover with remaining brownie batter. Sounded so good, I had to try it. ... but, thought it would be fun to surf the net a bit and see what came up .... Tom, of course, my chocolate fiend, found several variations and we made up a batch. We loved them - if you love chocolate, you'lllove these. The center becomes a fudgy moussetype texture - sooooo good.
"Symphony" Brownies Carol Bouldin, PC, OK
1 Original Supreme Family Size Chocolate Brownie Mix with Hershey Syrup
3 Eggs
1/4 cup Water
1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
2 (8-ounce) Symphony Milk Chocolate Candy Bars with Almond and Toffee pieces or 2 (7-ounce) bars of Milk Chocolate
Butter the bottom of an 11 x 7 inch baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, combine brownie mix, eggs, oil, water and vegetable oil ; stir until combined. Spread half the batter evenly into prepared pan.
Break candy bars to fit over top of the batter. Pour remaining batter over candy bars.
Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out with only a few moist cmmbs. If using glass pan, bake at 325 degrees; 350 degrees otherwise.
Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool. Cool completely before cutting.
Note: Found several variations of this recipe - one used 2 boxes of brownie mix - mix one up for the bottom layer and one up for the top layer-bake in a larger 9 x 13 inch pan. Another recipe called for chopped up almonds mixed with a Heath or Skor barsprinkle over the top before baking when using the almond and toffee ...
