The K-UP Board met recently to review the submitted grant applications. Out of the five applications received, the Board awarded grants to the following organizations:
• Operation Blessing $1,500 to restock their pantry for holiday food baskets.
• Billings Volunteer Fire Dept. $2,000 for a security system.
• Marland Children’s Home $2,500 to start the Wishing Well Fund
• Newkirk High School Softball $2,500 for awnings over bleachers
• Oklahoma Youth Ranch Rodeo $1,600 for a new sound system
K-UP Foundation is supported by Kay Electric members who voluntarily round up their electric bills to the next dollar, donating the few cents difference to the foundation. Utility bill roundup programs help support rural fire departments and charities who are often operating on a limited budget.
