The Blackwell Animal Hospital is pleased to announce Dr. Ashley Senn has joined doctors Larry Wyckoff, Hayley Bruey and Chip Schultz in providing large & small animal veterinary care in northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas. Ashley grew up on a small farm & ranch in Southeastern Oklahoma and is well suited to meet the mixed animal needs of a rural community.
According to Dr. Senn, “The country & rural lifestyle has always had a special place in my heart. Most evenings were spent doing chores & every Sunday was spent in church. It wasn’t uncommon to find me with the rejected baby goat kid in a laundry basket in my bedroom or to find me asleep in the shavings next to my show heifer. My compassion for animals runs deep.”
When asked why she became a veterinarian, Dr. Senn explained, “Most people think you become a vet because you love animals. I became a veterinarian because I love building trusting relationships with people. I became a veterinarian so that I can help people by helping their pets & livestock. The career path of veterinary medicine chose me & I’ve loved every minute of it.”
A graduate of Oklahoma State Veterinary College, Ashley’s favorite part of being a veterinarian is the ability to be all of the specialists in one doctor. “As a vet, we are often dentists, anesthetists, surgeons, radiologist, clinical pathologists, ER doctors and more! If I have to choose my favorite aspect, it is probably cow/calf production medicine.”
Dr. Senn enjoys spending time with her husband, Colton, and their dog, Doc. Ashley enjoys Oklahoma sunsets and sunrises, pond fishing, riding horses, and tooling leather. She is a hardworking, caring and an honest individual. If she doesn’t know an answer, she strives to find the answer for her clients. Her philosophy is “we can accomplish so much more together than we can alone.” Dr. Wyckoff added, “Both in competency & character, Dr. Senn is someone in whom I trust my clients & reputation.”
