Vivian Pemberton shared with Delphi Study Club members lessons in learning to trust, break down barriers and find strength to carry as she reviewed the story of the donkey who inspired a struggling family with courage and faith. In Flash: The Homeless Donkey Who Taught Me about Life, Faith, and Second Chances, author Rachel Anne Ridge tells that a wounded, frightened and abandoned donkey appeared when her family was at its darkest hour following an economy crash. Flash the donkey’s confidence in approaching and playing with strange horses gave Rachel the courage to make a presentation for a designing job, focusing on how much she could do instead of on what she couldn’t do.Flash’s persistence in breaking through a gate and fence to get to a mare he fancied taught Rachel not to let obstacles stand in her way of something she wanted. She also learned to find joy in the little things of life.Rachel felt the donkey was sent to rescue her family in its hour of need, teaching her, her husband and children to live with gratitude to others, have open hearts, not to fear changes and to embrace future possibilities.Evelyn Coyle, Delphi Study Club president, hosted the October meeting in her home. Members attending were Linda Brown, Ann Cales, Beverly Frazier, Doris Osborn, Carolyn Ott, Marjilea Smithheisler and Pemberton. For a Tonkawa News Classified, Call Janel at 580-628-2532 ...
