Kay County OHCE Association Meeting was held at the Eastern Heights Christian Church and some members joined on Zoom recently. Marcina Overman, President called the meeting to order and introduced a new member, Deana Purdy. Lorna Wilson, Vice President, led the group in the flag salute. Betty Glasgow gave and inspirational thought for the day and a memorial for deceased members, Alieda Key, Happy Hearts and Homes, Barbara Faussett, Nardin and Pearl Craven. Gina Bowman, Secretary, conducted roll call, read the minutes from a previous meeting and shared some correspondence. Karen Overman, Treasurer, gave information about our accounts. Glenda Wise brought up the prices about folding tables and shipping containers during the business discussion.
Cindy Empting, Membership Chairman, recognized new members: Diana Weaver and Marsha Mauk from Happy Hears and Homes, Everett Brazil from Kildare, Kim Arbona, Lacey Hodges and Shaela Yeary from Nardin. Years of Service was given to Karen Overman, Kildare 45 years; Sondra Ailey, Nardin 35 years; Linda Bakley and Peggy Malson, Happy Hearts and Homes 10 years; Gloria Cornett, Happy Hearts and Homes, and Teri Harris, Kildare, both have 5 years. Perfect Attendance went to Glenda Wise and Leslie Young, Creative Homemakers; Diana Scott, Linda Blakley, Betty Hasselbring from Happy Hearts and Homes; Frances Bohannon, Betty Glasgow, and Kathy Fitch, Fun and Fundamental; Melba Irwin and Karen Overman, Kildare. OHCE Groups Standard of Excellence Awards went to Happy Hearts and Homes, Nardin, Fun & Fundamental, Kildare, and Creative Homemakers. Nardin OHCE Group had the Largest Membership Gain. Gloria Viveros from Happy Hearts and Homes received a Kay County Young Member Award.
Committee Goals for 2021 in Clothing, OHCE Issues, Health and Safety, Home Environment, Building, Fair, and Membership/ PR were given by Cindy Empting, Diana Scott, Leslie Young, and Marcina Overman.
Discussion for the 2021 Budget was led by Leslie Young, Treasurer Elect. Brenda Medlock, Kay County OSU Cooperative Extension Service, had some announcements. Lorna Wilson led the Club Collect. Meeting was adjourned.
Christina Collins from Nardin OHCE Group, is President Elect and will be leading the organization starting January, 2021.
Hats and mittens along with other items were gathered for Child Welfare from Caring Hands and Hearts, Happy Hearts and Homes, Nardin, Fun & Fundamental, Kildare, and Creative Homemakers.
