The Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee has taken on a project to replace the downtown Christmas Decorations in conjunction with City of Tonkawa. The last garland purchased for the downtown was in 1992, and it has become worn out and is shedding. Also, the berries and bells that were on the garland are no longer usable. The garland needs to be replaced with new lighter weight garland material, new red balls and a new large center bell. The Chamber has located a company that manufactures garland that best resembles the current garland that we all love. We have set our goal at $25,000.00. We need the communities support to carry out this project. We want to keep Tonkawa in the top ten towns of Oklahoma with the best downtown Christmas decorations. At this time, we are seeking donations from individuals and organizations to reach this goal and to continue to keep the traditional, classic look that has made Tonkawa famous for being in that “top 10” list for Oklahoma towns.Donations of any amount are appreciated, so if you see a donation can placed around town, please feel free to drop your change in one of those, or you can stop by the Chamber office or mail your donation to 102 E. Grand, Tonkawa, Oklahoma 74653.Let’s all work together and keep Tonkawa “The shining star of Northern Oklahoma” and in the top ten best Christmas Decoration communities.
