Hamand to purchase a fogger machine and chemicals to operate it to control the current plague of Buffalo gnats and mosquitoes was approved by the city council Tuesday night at its regular meeting at city hall. Hamand said, “We have a bug problem in town and in checking around, the best way to control it is with a fogger machine.” He said the machine would cost $750 and the initial cost for the spraying to the city would total $1,500 to $1,600 for the machine and chemicals. He said the fogger is not noisy, and not harmful to people or gardens. He told the council that he could probably have it in operation in about ten days.Five members were named by Vice Mayor Neil Martin to the newly instituted Board of Adjustment and approved by the council. Named were Clane Kirtley and Mrs. Shirley Frazier, three year terms; Randy Glasgow and Rod Carr, two year terms and Leon Carver, one- year term. Purpose of the board is to act as a review agency when persons have a difference with the Planning and Zoning Commission.Moorman Named Also named to the Planning and Zoning Commission and approved by the council was Bill Moorman. He replaces DeRoy Rickerd, who has moved to Blackwell and resigned from the body.Airport Board Receives $15,000 State CheckThe Blackwell-Tonkawa Airport Trust Authority received a $15,000 check from the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission in a presentation made by W. Howard Cloud, Deputy Director, Wednesday noon at the noon luncheon meeting of the Kiwanis club at Perkins Restaurant. Bob Roberts, Blackwell, chairman of the Authority received the check from Cloud.
