Caudillo Receives Merit Certificate In Farm Mechanics
Jesse Caudillo has been presented with a Certificate of Merit in Farm Mechanics, awarded by the Thor Research center for Better Farm Living of Marengo, Ill., for showing the greatest farm mechanics ability among the graduating seniors of Tonkawa High school.
Neil C. Hurley jr., founder of the Thor Research Center, a nonprofit farm research organization, established the Farm Mechanics Award to honor the member of each senior high school class deemed most outstanding in his proficiency to apply farm mechanics to the effective use of farm shop equipment and tools, in the maintenance of farm machinery and in building projects to provide improved farm living and operating efficiency. The selection is made by the student’s vocational agriculture teacher.
298 Hit the Water On Opening Day of Old Swimmin’ Hole
Summer officially came to Tonkawa this year when the municipal swimming pool opened for the first time of the season at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
A long line of youngsters began to form before 1 o’clock and when the cashier Leah Beth Taylor, opened the window, 103 passed through the portals in the first 15 minutes. By 2 p.m. nearly 200 youngsters were churning the crystal clear water into white foam. Total swimmers entering the pool on opening day was 298.
Opening of the pool was delayed for a day while workers raced to make it ready. Final cleaning was done and filteration equipment was checked and placed in operation.
Larry Brewer is the manager of the pool for the summer and is assisted by Sherry Scott and Bryce Neville, lifeguards, Miss Taylor, cashier, Tina Almgren, checkroom clerk, and Mike Barber, Freddy Taylor, Billy Cross, Duane Young and Ronald Jones, manintenance assistants.
Glasgows Entertain with Rehearsal Dinner
As a courtesy for their son, Jerry Glasgow, and his fiancess, Miss Barbara McDaris, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Glasgow of Clinton entertained Saturday evening at a rehearsal dinner in the Christian Fellowship hall.
The couple exchanged wedding vows in a 3 p.m. ceremony Sunday at the First Christian church.
Guest were served buffet style from a table centered with an attractive arrangement of spring garden flowers.
Members of the immediate families and of the wedding party were guests at the affair. The Glasgows were assisted by her sister, Mrs. Floyd Montgomery, and Miss Lou Ann Montgomery of Blackwell.
