50 years ago, April 18, 1974Petunia Planting Day . . . Thursday, April 25 Thursday, April 25, has been designed as “Planting Day” for red and white petunias to be planted throughout the city in connection with the Community Improvement project designed to create civic pride and to beautify Tonkawa.The ‘Planting Pride With Petunias” project has been launched by the Delphi Study Club, in conjunction with Community Improvement program co-sponsored by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and Sears Roebuck and Co. While at THS, she has served as a student council representative, listed on the principal’s honor roll and listed in “Who’s Who Among Students in American High Schools.”Williamson is the granddaughter of Rex and Maurine McSparrin of Tonkawa and Hershal and Francis Walker of Bay, Arkansas.
