50 years ago, March 22, 1973Applications are now being accepted for summer employment with the Department of Interior and the U.S. Forrest Sevices. All applications for this area will be screened by the Tonkawa Chapter of the Izaak Walters League.The ten-year-old program provides summer jobs in our National Parks, Wildlife Refuges, Public Domain lands, and Forest Service holdings. It is an unparalleled opportunity for young men and women who are considering careers in the natural resources. Salaries will be comparable to those in private industry.Approximately 30 positions will be filled. Those selected will work as conservation aides, survey aides, laborers, topographic and hydrographic field assistants and in other related areas. The purpose of the program is to encourage careers in conservation and related fields.Applicants should have demonstrated potential for leadership and scholastic ability and must be in good health and physically capable.Candidates must be high school seniors at the present time, expecting to graduate in 1973. All applications must be postmarked no later than March 26, 1973 to be eligible.• A completed U.S. Government Form 171 available at any post office or other federal building.• A transcript of his high school record.• A recommendation from an adult, other than family who knows the applicant and his qualifications for the program.• A letter from him indicating his college or career plans, his extracurricular activities in high school, any conservation oriented work he has performed and his reasons for seeking employment through the program.• Drug addicts or alcohol addicts should not apply.Violin Recital Is Tuesday At Little Theatre Paula and Andrea Moore, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Moore of Emporia, Kan., will be presented in a violin recital Tuesday, March 20, at 2:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre at Northern Oklahoma College. The public is invited to attend.Paula, a fifth grader, and Andrea, a second grader, will be assisted by Royce and Amanda McLarry, 10 and 8 years, respectively.
