NOC Regents Approve Revised Tenure Policy The Board of Regents for Northern Oklahoma college has adapted revisions in tenure revisions for tenure policies which college officials say provide for greater accountability of the staff as professionals, at their regular meeting Thursday. The first tenure policies at the college were put into effect in 1967 after cooperative study by the administration and faculty. The revisions were the result of further study by a faculty committee and discussions of the result of further study by a faculty committee and discussions of the administration and board.Dr. Edwin Vineyard, N.O.C. president, stated that he believes the new policy statement “gives adequate security to faculty while at the same time assuring that professional services will be maintained at a high quality level.”The policy statement provides for a minimum probationary period of three years for new academic staff before granting of tenure. It states in some detail a list of causes for which tenure staff may be dismissed. A new feature provides for periodic review of tenured faculty first at three year intervals then changing to five years after at least nine years of service. In other action, the board approved a recommendation to broaden the sick leave policies of the college to include allowances for personal emergencies. Also approved was a recommendation for alteration of maximum accumulation of sick leave from the present 45 calendar days to 45 working days or 60 calendar days, whichever is less.”The board heard a report from the president regarding difficulties experienced with vending services on the campus.
