College Engineers Plan Conoco Tour
The Engineers club at Northern Oklahoma Junior college was scheduled to make a tour of Continental Oil company at Ponca
City today. Members planned to tour the entire plant, having access to the gymnasium and indoor swimming pool, according to
Glenn McNickle, president.
Engineers also plan to attend the Engineers Exposition at Oklahoma A&M college and a meeting of the Academy of Science at
Lake Texacoma in April.
The club currently is pledging seven new members, McNickle said. They are James Nunn, Dale Harrison and Wheeler Cobb,
Ponca City; Charles Jueschke, Marion Earnest and Jack Bewley,
Tonkawa, and BIll Oxford, Pawhuska.
Tonkawans Chosen Among Top Students
Dewey Buck and Clarke Mullen, University of Oklahoma students from Tonkawa, are among the 100 outstanding independent students, selected through participation in campus activities and scholastic attainment, who were honored recently.
Buck, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Buck, 203 North Jenkins, is a graduate student. Mullen, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Mullen, 604
North Seventh, is a senior in the OU college of fine arts.
Jack Case Receives Airforce Discharge
Cpl. Jack Case, son of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Case, Sr., Three Sands, received his discharge March 6 from the airforce at Beale Air-force Base, Calif., where he had been stationed for the past several months.
Case served 23 months in the armed forces. He and his wife and daughter, Jacqueline, plan to make their home in Covington, where he will be associated with the Wolfe Drilling company.
20th Century Club Has Guest Reviewer
Mrs. Harland Schug, guest reviewer presented the program feature of the evening when members of the Twentieth Century Research club met Tuesday in the home of Mrs. Bill Tullos.
Mrs. Schug gave a review of the book “Nieman-Marcus, Texas.” by F. X. Tolbert. Mrs. Joe Buffalow was program chairman.
Mrs. Fred Smith, president, conducted the business portion of the meeting and announced the state convention of Federated
Women’s clubs which will be held April 7 to Chickasha. The national convention to be held during June in Denver, Colo., also was announced.
The door prize was received by Mrs. Bob Steichen.
Mrs. Jim Ratterree was announced as hostess for the groups
March 23 meeting.
At the conclusion of the evening a refreshment course emphasizing a St. Patrick’s motif was served to Mrs. Schug and Mrs. Bill
Roller, guests, and 10 members, Mrs. Dale Jones, Mrs. James Rider, Mrs. Olin Walcher, Mrs. Francis Langdon, Mrs. Bob Oswalt,
