I would like to call to your attention two articles printed in the Tonkawa News in the December 19, 2019 issue. First, the sermonette titled “The Hope of Christmas” by Dr. Glenn Cope, pastor of the Tonkawa Church of Christ, is a message about hope, not only for the Christmas season but for all time. It is beautifully written and needs to be read by everyone. Thank you Dr. Cope for your words of wisdom.
The second article, “Historically Speaking” and sub-titled “Historical Forgiveness”, was written by Dr. James Finck, USAD History Professor. The article is dedicated to Dr. James Robertson, a distinguished scholar on the Civil War. It is pointed out that history is the greatest teacher we will ever have and it is tragic that 75% of Americans cannot pass a basic history exam.
Summing up his article he makes the proposal that we start a national dialogue of of forgiveness. He further states that forgiveness is not about forgetting, but it is about learning from mistakes, remembering them and changing for the better.’ We are becoming a divided nation but not quite to the level that caused the Civil War...’ Read the article to fill in the facts. It will give you a lot to think about.
Hopefully, you will enjoy the Christmas season by letting the Lord’s spirit fill you with peace and joy. Enjoy time with loved ones and show gratitude for all you have.
