The next time you visit the McCarter Museum, be sure to go to the back of the museum to view the most recent display. Norma Young has arranged a lovely grouping of Marilee Helton’s personal items.
You will enjoy it. Also, on the wall is a plaque from the Oklahoma Heritage Society, ‘Oklahoma Heritage Distinguished Service Award’ recognizing Marilee Helton in 1995. Quite an honor and well deserved.
Centennial Park was the setting for the Full Moon musical program last Thursday It was very well attended. Dazzling the crowd was Jerry Steichen on the keyboard, Shannon Varner with her exquisite voice and Dineo Heilman with his magical clarinet and two outstanding college students, Haley Hatfield from OCU and Gonzalo de la Fuente from OU.
Music was mostly from Irving Berlin, Andrew Lloyd Webber, George Gershwin and Rodgers and Hammerstein.Why go to New York when Jerry brings Broadway to Tonkawa!! It was definitely a memorable evening. Thank you to Jerry, Shannon, Dineo, Haley and Gonzalo and the sound man!
Kay County will perhaps be remembered for the May and June, 2019, floods, preceded with a 4.4 earthquake earlier in May. Historic events, such as this, are documented in the McCarter Museum.
