Hey Tonkawa!
Before I get to Buc of the Week, I have a few announcements to make. On Saturday, June 6, the Jeans and Jewels-Dancing in the Dust event will take place! It will be from 7-11 p.m. at the Big V Ranch. All juniors and seniors are invited! I am so excited. If you have not heard, this event is being put on by students’ parents and it is not school sponsored. It is being made possible because of the kindness of these wonderful parent’s hearts. I would like to thank the parents and community members that have made this event happen, I really appreciate it. Also, THS summer baseball has started! There are a few games coming up, so if you can, come cheer them on. You might see some graduated seniors sneaking their way onto the field!
Now, my Buc of the Week is Callan Hainline. Callan is part of the Class of 2020. He is funny, smart, and an all around good person. Callan is the son of Ben Hainline and Cristin and Steven Hager. Callan has participated in cross country, and he is a member of the National Honors Society.
I started off by asking, of course, what Callan missed most about school. He said he misses beloved teacher, Mrs. Shreck, the most. Next, I asked him how he has kept himself busy during the pandemic. He replied, video games. Typical boy! In all honesty, I think most of us have probably spent a bit of extra time on electronics since this has all started! After that, I asked Callan what he was most looking forward to that got cancelled or postponed. Callan said he was disappointed that graduation was postponed. However, all of us seniors are extremely grateful that it did not get completely cancelled. We cannot thank the school and community enough for the support they have shown. I asked Callan, “Knowing what you know now, if you could go back to the first day of senior year, what would you tell yourself?” He responded, “I would tell myself to appreciate the gym more.” I am sure, now that all the gyms have been closed, he wishes he would have taken advantage of them being open at the time. Lastly, I asked Callan what his future plans are. Callan plans to become a marine. Thank you for your bravery, and soon, for your service!
Have a great ...
