Buc tracksters head to Cherokee today

Tonkawa varsity girls and boys track turn their attention to Cherokee this Thursday. At Stroud against much bigger schools last Saturday, the Buc girls didn’t place anyone. Dante Mendoza placed second in shotput and third in discus. The 400 relay boys team was eighth with Roman Chandler, Peyton Keith, Dalton Pierce and Cam Jackson. The 1600 relay was seventh with Keith, Sam Anderson, Pierce and Chandler.

Wildlife Department’s Youth Camp

The ODWC annual Wildlife Youth Camp provides youth ages 14 to 16 an opportunity to explore careers in the world of wildlife and fisheries management. The 2022 Wildlife Youth Camp will be held June 12-17 at the OU Biological Station near Kingston. The deadline to apply is April 15. All applying potential campers must have been enrolled in school the previous year. This is the perfect chance to get away this summer for youth who have an interest in fish and wildlife management. We’ll see you soon future campers!

Buc baseballers go to Alva tonight

Tonkawa’s 2022 baseballers were to play Tuesday night at Glencoe and will play at Alva Thursday night as they continue the 2022 schedule following spring break. The Bucs are 3-2 on the year so far...

Thursday, March 10, a paddlefish angler snagged into this bighead carp on Grand Lake. The carp weighed 81.8 pounds, was 1372 mm (a little over 54 inches) and had over 10 pounds of eggs in it. Samples were collected off of it to provide to Missouri State University for their study on bighead carp in the Neosho/Grand system. Bighead carp is an invasive species to North America.
