NOC sophomores Kade Marlatt and Trevin Michael were named Maverick Baseball Student Athletes of the Week for March 25. Marlatt is from Woodward while Michael is from Piedmont. Marlatt had a double and home run with four runs batted in. He hit .667 for the week. Michael allowed two earned runs in six innings over two appearances striking out eight against just one walk.

Buc baseballers in Ripley Tourney; go to Woodland, Glencoe next week

Tonkawa Buc baseballers have a busy ten days coming up, according to Head Coach Brady Holland.

The Bucs, now 3-1 on the young season, will be in the Ripley Tournament Thursday through Saturday. The Bucs open tourney play vs. McCurtain at 6 p.m. Thursday. If they win, the Bucs meet Atoka at 8 p.m. Thursday. If they lose they play at 10 a.m. Friday vs. the loser between Vian and Newkirk.

Northern girls’ basketball camp dates are announced

Applications are now being accepted for the Lady Mavs girls’ summer basketball camps at Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa, according to Coach Greg Krause, camp director.

“Summer is the best time to work on individual skills and fundamentals,” he advises. “Basketball teaches the value of improving as an individual, as well as committing to what’s best for the team.”

Cameron Grein, Sam Jacobs, Camaryn Alexander win top basketball team awards

Cameron Grein and Sam Jacobs Sunday were named Tonkawa Buc boys basketball outstanding players.

Grein and Jacobs are both seniors.

Camaryn Alexander, a sophomore, was named the Lady Buc basketball most valuable player.

The awards were among those presented at the annual Tonkawa Buc basketball boosters awards ceremony, held at the high school cafeteria.

Buc baseballers start year off with two straight wins

A walkoff single by Brandon Alexander in the bottom of the seventh propelled the Tonkawa Buc baseballers to a 6-4 win over Barnsdall Monday night.

Barnsdall scored three runs in the first inning and were ahead 5-2 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Brady Hook and Alexander pitched for the Bucs. Hook pitched the final three innings, strking out three. Alexander pitched the first four innings.
