Dean F. Joslin

Dean Francis Joslin, 89, was born in Harper, KS on December 1, 1934, and peacefully passed away at his home in Anthony, KS on March 14, 2024.

Dean was a graduate of Harper High School and went on to graduate from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. He used that education well in working as a wheat farmer and cattle rancher for all his life. Additionally, while serving in the National Guard for seven years, Dean attended Vo-Tech and received his electrician’s license. Over the years, he wired and re-wired many businesses and houses throughout Argonia, Harper, Anthony and Danville, including the Danville Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Dean loved all things fun. From dinner and dancing, spending time with friends and attending KState football games in his younger years to golfing, having coffee with his friends, and watching KState sports (EMAW) in later years.

Dean was an avid golfer and played as often as he could, weather permitting. From the number of golf balls found in his golf cart, car, and apartment he must not have hit many in the water or the woods!

Dean loved to play the commodity market and would regularly do so at the commodities’ office in Anthony with his dear friend, Londa Fischer, or on his computer at home. Whether Dean can continue to make futures contracts in Heaven may be questionable, but that will be between him and God!

But the thing he loved most was his family. Dean would do anything for his family. The weeklong family summer vacations to Virginia Beach and Thanksgiving and birthday celebrations at Jalana and Scott’s house were the highlight of his and the lives of his family. The family group texts whenever KState, KU or the KC Chiefs were playing were beyond fun.

Dean was predeceased by two children, Jeffery Dean and Julie Marie, two brothers Leeman Joslin, Jr. and Thad Joslin and his parents Dr. Leeman Joslin and Thelma Joslin Burg.

Left to forever remember and cherish his memory are his children, Jay Joslin of Overland Park, KS, Janeé Joslin (Debi) of Virginia Beach, VA, Jon Joslin (Nicole) of Kansas City, MO, Jalana Cloud (Scott) of Tonkawa, OK and his beloved grandchildren, Joslyn Cantrell (Chris), Sarah Joslin, Samantha Joslin and Giana Joslin and great grandson, Peyton Cantrell. And paternal niece Blythe Joslin of Northport, AL.

The family would like to thank Jalana for the 24-hour care she provided Dean in the last two weeks of his life.

A visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, KS. Dean’s Memorial Service will be held on March 29, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, KS. Immediately following, graveside services will be held at Danville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Shriners Hospital for Children, or the Anthony Golf Club, and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
